The concept of Santa Claus is handled slightly different in Sweden than it is in America. Santa doesn’t sneak into the house in the middle of Christmas Eve night to slip presents under the tree, as he did in my house. In Sweden, Santa shows up on Christmas Eve (which is the night they celebrate) while everyone is gathered together. He hands out presents and wishes everyone a God Jul (Merry Christmas).
I questioned Martin about Santa’s, uh, face and he assured me that no one ever thought Santa was a zombie.
Could have fooled me.
