Due to some seriously clumsy travel planning by yours truly, we are spending the night at the Kuala Lumpur airport. We flew in from Singapore just before midnight, and we’re flying out to Medan, Indonesia early tomorrow morning. Between the 3 hours we would have to spend on transports and the 100 dollars we would have to spend on a hotel, we figured that the best option available was to rough it out.
As a special treat to ourselves (OK it was the only thing open) we sat down and had a lovely meal at the local McDonalds. It tasted like McDonalds. As a friend of mine used to say: ‘it’s nutrition’.
Next up: we will try to make our stay in Medan as short as possible and then head down to Danau Toba: a volcanic island in a volcanic lake that looks like a great place to stay and write for a while.
We’re excited.

Totally understand getting McDonalds if you are traveling and have to stay at the airport. I do try and avoid them as much as possible because the McSandwiches always make me McSick before a flight.
To sheyna: not sure its the McSandwiches before the flight or the mcnight before the flight…..
There is a strong 15% certainty that it isn’t the McBeers the night before. That is enough for me to believe it is the food.
