I’ve knocked it for it’s unexpected commercial vibe, but I have to give the Balinese credit for their homes The architecture we saw in the city center was reminiscent of the opulence of the Angkor Wat temples. The home-stay style guesthouse we stayed in had truly beautiful style. Ever surface contains an ornate medium – intricately carved wooden doorways and undulating cement decorative elements along every surface.
We are apparently about 80 years too late to enjoy Ubud’s untouched charm, but we took what we could get. I’ve taken notes and when this website scores us our first couple million, I’m going to insist we build a house with at least some of these elements. (I guess it might be time to try to earn some money with this thing – or my Balinese/Tuscan villa dream home will never happen…)
