So we’re going to stay in Kathmandu for a while. If you’re one of our handful of faithful readers, please note that we’ll keep updating the blog. The content won’t be as travel-heavy for a while, it will focus on us finding our way in this crazy and wonderful city.
After our time here is up, we will hit the road again. Right now we’re looking at our options, weighing pros and cons and generally having a good time with the travel planning. A couple of candidate destinations:
-
Sikkim. This part of India was its own kingdom up to the 1970s. Today it promises to be a pretty cool place to check out trekking, monasteries and mountaineering.
-
Arunachal Pradesh. If you haven’t heard about this part of India you’re not alone. Most Indians haven’t heard about it. It’s a remote and beautiful part of the world, and I hope that we can give it a good look. A problem is the permit situation, since China claims the whole state as their own.
-
Myanmar. We hope to check in on the country formerly known as Burma. This may or may not take place, but admittedly it will be true to the seatofourpants style of travel to go back to a place just an hour away where we begun (Bangkok).
Beyond this, we’re looking at various options. Europe, Turkey, South America and North Africa are in play. It is far too early to talk about these destinations though, as there’s lots of Nepal to enjoy in between.
Life is pretty good.
