We’ve been drooling over the various Tibetan paintings, or thangkas, we’ve seen lately. Used by monks as training tools, thangkas are embedded with loads of symbolic meaning and often tell tales of historical events in the life (or lives) of the Buddha.
We are waiting for just the right one to grab us, so haven’t bought one yet. In the meantime, I am feeling creative and thought I would use my current obsession with these paintings in a little project – and I want to involve you in the process!
Using the principles of thangka painting (as I understand them via the always useful Thangka Wikipedia article), I want to paint a little SeatOfOurPants history. But I need your help! If you comment on your favorite blog post/story/event from our trip so far, I will turn it into a little thangka painting.
