It’s Christmas in Sweden…a day early. The big day in Sweden is celebrated on the 24th, rather than the 25th. So, what does this mean to a California girl? Two Christmases, of course!
Not doubling up on presents is a huge plus as well. If you’ve been following this blog you know just how much time Martin and I spend together. If not, I’ll put it simply: All the time. No joke. 24 hours a day. It’s become a running joke with us, actually. We’ve spent so much time together that we can guess what the other is thinking – every time, all the time.
Well, you can imagine how hard this makes buying Christmas presents! Fortunately for us, we can divide the presents over the two days – the 24th for the big fat Swede and the 25th for me. How does this make things easier, you ask? Well, I can buy a few things for Martin, he opens them on the 24th, then he can fill in thegaps without worrying that he was doubling up.
Believe me, it’s a blessing in cultural disguise. Merry Christmas Sweden (God Jul Sverige)!!!
