Sometimes the most well-laid plans turn out to take you absolutely nowhere. Yesterday, we flew in to Bangkok from Kathmandu. We hoped to do a quick in-n-out of this mega metropolis – we wanted a travel agent to set us up with a Myanmar visa while we’d go off to Isan for a few days of R&R.
Well, that plan was shot to pieces today. It turns out that nowadays you have to apply for the visa in person at the embassy. Since we arrived on a Friday, we’ll have to sit here til Monday and then apply when the embassy opens. We plan to be the first ones there, ready with our newly acquired passport photos.
So for now I guess we’re stranded here, forced to enjoy the warm climate, the smiling people and the delicious food. Poor us.
