When looking at the map, it is pretty evident that we’re a stone’s throw away from Syria, Iraq and Iran, place names that have a dangerous ring to western ears. Indeed, friends and family have expressed a bit of concern over our current whereabouts.
Well, we can all relax! Any misgivings we may have had before we got here has been thoroughly put to shame. You hardly see any cops around here, because they’re not needed. People are going about their daily businesses without having to worry about bombs, shootings or any type of violence. It’s been a fair while since the troubles affected this area, and people couldn’t be happier about that particular fact.
In short – don’t worry about it. It’s probably more dangerous in Stockholm, Los Angeles or London (not that those places are exactly dangerous either).
